SHABBINGTON

Shabbington is a village of 486 people (2011 census), about 3 miles west of Thame and 7 miles southwest of Aylesbury. The River Thame runs close to the village and forms much of the parish's southern boundary with Oxfordshire. The village pub, the Old Fisherman, sits on the riverbank on the outskirts of the village. The parish church, St Mary Magdalene, has an 11th-century chancel with a 13th-century Gothic east window.

Commuting: around 3 miles to Thame, 7 miles to Aylesbury, with the same road links to Oxford and the M40 as the rest of the area.

Schools: Shabbington has no primary school of its own — children attend Ickford Combined School, which also serves Worminghall.

The average house price in Shabbington was £759,500 over the last year, according to Land Registry data — though this reflects a small number of sales, so it can shift significantly year to year.
